In this series of posts, friends, family, colleagues, and network connections answer one question about their favorite something. In each post, the favorite question, as well as the person who answers it, varies.
Up this week is Candy Elkind Emerson. Candy and I have been friends for years – we met through a mutual friend. I asked her this question.
What’s your favorite thing about triathlons?
Candy’s Answer: My most favorite thing about triathlons is how it challenges my body, my mind and my soul. I’ve been doing them for six years now and each year I choose a race that goes the distance. This past summer I finally completed 2012 Ironman Lake Placid. It’s a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile hilly bike course in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, and a 26.2 mile marathon throughout the 1930 and 1980 Olympic Village. This is completed all in one 17-hour day. It was amazing day and one experience I will never forget! By doing an Ironman, it has changed my perspective on how I get through life. I know I can tackle anything once I put my mind to it!
Triathlons changed my life. I’m grateful to the people I have met and the lifestyle is has created for me.
